Abstract

It is well known that the pulse compressed in Dispersion - shifted Fibers (DSF) has pedestals. In this paper we design a new structure which combined DSF and Dispersion - Imbalanced Nonlinear Loop Mirror (DI - NOLM) for pulse compression and pedestal suppression. Using this structure, the 11ps pulse with the repetition rate 10GHz generated from an active mode-locked fiber ring laser (AM-MLFRL) was compressed to 2ps without pedestal.
