Abstract

The urban transportation planning process (UTPP) attempts to provide a systematic method for solving urban transportation problems. The application of UTPP usually requires base year surveys including transport system, travel pattern, etc., and horizon year forecast - socioeconomic and technological. In this paper a system dynamics simulation model in conjunction with UTPP is used to forecast the required parameters and to estimate the future traffic volume and travel time on transportation facilities of a hypothetical region.
