Abstract

The population of adults with congenital heart disease continues to expand. These patients present with problems related to their underlying condition, residual problems related to their treatment, and disorders related to aging. They need ongoing care by physicians with knowledge of congenital heart disease, usually a pediatric cardiologist and an adult cardiologist or internist. This chapter provides details of pregnancy and contraception, important concerns of women. Chronic cyanosis causes unique physiologic alterations in several organ systems, which require evaluation and often management.
