Abstract
It is the intention of this paper to review the ability of the fetus and newborn to regulate its demand for glucose and to supplement the glucose supply during periods of limited exogenous glucose entry. Much of the information regarding this subject is descriptive, but an attempt will be made to quantify these processes where possible.
