Abstract

Formation of black nickel coating on steel, zinc coated steel and commercial galvanized iron was investigated. The optimized working conditions of coating were found by measuring the solar absorbance and thermal emittance of the surfaces prepared. The zinc coating step was found to be effective on the thermal emittance of black nickel coated surfaces. Electrochemical coating of steel with a bright zinc before black nickel coating, lowered the thermal emittance of the surface up to 0. 04-0. 06.
