Abstract
The teratogenic action of cholesterol in developing rat fetuses was evaluated by the use of 14C-4, 3H-7, and 14C-26 labeled cholesterol. A comparison of radioactivity present in the fetuses indicated that the teratogenic activity of this steroid resides in a metabolite of cholesterol rather than in the intact molecule.
