Abstract
The unsteady surface element method is extended to conjugated heat transfer from a strip heater where the unsteadiness is caused by a step change in the heater output flux. The geometry is a model of a flush-mounted hotfilm anemometer for air flow. The numerical results for the heater temperature agree with the analytical solution for early times and the steady state results for the Nusselt number agree with an existing numerical solution.
