Abstract
This paper proposes a dynamic model of the material removal mechanism and provides a relationship between material removal rate and operation parameters in ultrasonic machining (USM). The model incorporates an effect of high values of vibration amplitude, frequency and grit size. The effect of non-uniformity of abrasive grits is also considered by using a probability distribution for the diameter of the abrasive particles. This model shows a good agreement with experimental results in a wide range of amplitude, frequency and grit size values.
