Abstract
Monte Carlo simulations were applied to compute the free energy of formation of water clusters in the presence of nitrogen carrier gas. Barrier height of nucleation increased with the carrier gas pressure at low temperature and remained same at high temperatures. These results matched with the binary nucleation theorem and suggested that nucleation pressure will increase with the carrier gas pressure. The density profile showed surface adsorption and results in reduction of surface tension. This causes lower barrier height to nucleation and influences the carrier-gas effect in water/nitrogen system.
