Electrical properties of ICl, Br2 and CuCl2 intercalated pitch-based carbon fibers

In this paper we report mainly on the electrical properties of pitch-based fibers heat treated to above 3000 °C and then intercalated. The electrical resistivities both above and below room temperature and reported. In very high magnetic fields at 4 K the CuCl2 intercalated P100-4 fibers exhibited large Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations. They were also found to be thermally stable up to 100 °C, and to have electrical resistivities as low as 12.9 μω cm at room temperature. These pitch-based fibers are mass producible, so are potentially useful in applications.
