The paper deals with two exponential functions W(x) and W//w(x) for approximative representations of the unit step functions. There have been given graphs of these functions, their derivatives and integrals. Applications of the above functions to approximate description of pulse-shaped physical waveforms and distributions are discussed. The article contains two numerical examples.
