Abstract
Non-human primates (NHPs) serve as excellent models for transplantation research. Gene expression profiling has been shown to be an important tool in understanding many aspects of transplantation. The many advantages of using expression arrays, and the unavailability of monkey specific arrays (until recently), has prompted some investigators to use human expression arrays with samples from rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta). This review examines attempts to use human expression arrays with monkey samples and the recent development of monkey-specific expression arrays.
