Abstract

The study involving the fabrication of nonepitaxially grown double-layered thin films for perpendicular recording purposes was presented. The double-layered medium comprised of nanocomposite FePt:C with a soft underlayer of FeCoNi. The obtained remanance and coercive results indicated that the double-layered nonepitaxially grown films with perpendicular anisotropy hold promise in realizing high-density perpendicular recording interests.
