Abstract
Information systems design and development is increasingly addressed from a group perspective. We successfully adopted an approach called GRIPPPER to facilitate user involvement for the design and development of an information system to support the new way in which the Amsterdam Municipal Police Force combats organized crime. This approach emphasizes the use of a Group Support System (GSS) during the information requirements specification phase. This study has demonstrated the potential of GSS for this purpose and also revealed the possibility of extending the employment of GSS technology to the other phases of the information system development cycle.
