Abstract

Finite element analysis that could help in designing covered stents and provide design-driven selection of suitable materials was discussed. For the study ultra-thin silicone covering of appropriate size was developed to capture onto the commercially available metal microstent. It was suggested that the results were helpful for understanding the effects of the covering on the mechanical behavior of the covered microstent. It was also suggested that the contact between the stent and the covering influences the mechanical behavior of the covered stent.
