Abstract

Hantavirus polmonary syndrome is an acute, often fatal, febrile illness causing rapid pulmonary failure and cardiovascular instability. Since first described in 1993, considerable progess has been made in identifying the hantaviruses responsible for the disease and in deriving its epidemiologic and diagnostic features.
