Abstract
Total orthotopic heart transplantation is becoming the procedure of choice at many institutions. With the incidence of heart failure increasing, the number of potential recipients continues to expand. Better evaluation of recipients is essential. Coronary revascularization and assist devices may be of benefit in patients not considered for transplantation.
