Abstract

This study of a flush-mounted heat source on a flat plate cooled by a steady flow provides a new perspective on the electronic cooling problem by identifying the conditions under which the full conjugate analysis may be replaced by simple limiting cases. The three limiting cases discussed are fluid-only analysis, lumped-wall analysis, and solid-only analysis. The numerical results are obtained from integral equations based on Green's functions, and the results are presented in a compact form with the use of the conjugate Peclet number, kf/ks(Pe)1/3. The results are also compared to experimental data from the literature.
