Abstract
Most of the state-of-the-art electrical discharge machines are equipped with systems for identification, monitoring, and control to save the machining time. A recently developed control system utilizes the variation of intensity of Radio Frequency signal generated at the spark and seems to provide an accurate control of the process. However, there are many aspects of this control system that need to be studied before its claim of providing accurate control and easiness of retrofitting on existing machines can be substantiated. This paper presents the partial results of investigation being carried out at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln using a Transfer Tec Mark V control unit and VMC orbital motion unit on Eltee Pulsitron EP-30 Electrical Discharge Machine.
