Improving outcomes in the elderly after pressure ulcer repair.

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Pressure ulcer repair with skin or muscle flaps may appear to close the wound, but elderly patients need extra precautions before and after surgery to improve the outcome. Nursing care of these patients include monitoring nutrition, removing devitalized tissue from the wound bed, providing proper pressure relief, administering proper patient positioning, and monitoring the flap.
