Abstract
Qualitatively different predictions of plasma oscillations related to linear and nonlinear (collisionless) Vlasov equations are discussed. In particular the damping effects of nonlinear terms are clearly stressed. Finally it is shown how an extra source of damping comes from explicit collision terms.
