Abstract

Definition Osteoarthritis (OA) is a slowly progressive form of arthritis, the product of cartilage failure resulting in progressive joint space narrowing, bony proliferation, and pain. Other common names for OA include osteoarthrosis and degenerative joint disease (DJD).
