Abstract

The high anisotropy of face-centered tetragonal FePt, about 6.6×107 ergs/cc, makes it a good candidate for hard-soft permanent-magnet composites with high energy products. In the present work, we prepare and characterize thermally processed FePt/Fe and FePt/Co multilayers and investigate the hysteresis loops of the partially textured hard-magnetic materials and its relationship to the nanostructure of the films.
