Professional Standards for Cellular Therapy: The Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT)

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

The Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) was co-founded by the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (ASTCT) and the International Society for Cell and Gene Therapy (ISCT) to promote quality patient care and laboratory practice in hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) through the establishment of comprehensive professional standards and implementation of a voluntary accreditation program for the procurement, processing, and transplantation of hematopoietic cells. FACT Standards are unique in depth and breadth, applicable to all phases of collection, processing, and administration of hematopoietic cells regardless of tissue source, intended use, or phase of product development. Its mission has expanded to include adoptive cellular therapies with a broad range of immune effector cells, cord blood banking, and other cellular therapies and products. Each volume of Standards forms the basis for an accreditation program. This chapter details these Standards and associated accreditation.
