Abstract
A new approach for the design of rate-compatible low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes is presented. The approach uses a sequence of rate-compatible degree profiles based on row and column constraints of the parity-check matrices of the sequence of codes. Simulation results show that LDPC codes constructed in this manner perform better than rate-compatible LDPC codes constructed using other known techniques.
