Abstract

An alkaline treatment is developed for a 90% reduction of surface trimer of polyester (PET) yarn dyed with disperse dyes. The treatment uses 1-3 g/L of sodium hydroxide for a prescour before dyeing with disperse dyes or an alkaline treatment at pH 9 for a one-bath disperse dyeing and trimer reduction.
