Abstract

The flexibility of flexible computer-integrated manufacturing systems (CIMs) implies options and decisions among them, which in turn depends on acquiring and processing information. Development of appropriate sensors to acquire accurate and reliable information and signature analysis systems are keys to successful implementation of CIMs. The application of a signal and system analysis technique called data-dependent system to the sensory problems of monitoring the state of machining processes is described.
