This chapter begins with a brief overview of the basis of special education services, i.e., who are the students being served and what are the types of educational settings in which they are served? It then identifies the strategies that have been found to be successful with these students. The chapter describes the development, implementation, and research evidence on an early intervention program called First Step to Success.
