Abstract
Co:C nanocomposite films were prepared by cosputtering and post-annealing, and their room-temperature structural and magnetic properties were investigated as functions of annealing temperature, Co concentration and film thickness. Nanostructured hexagonal close packed Co particles with grain sizes ranging from 10 to 25 nm were formed upon appropriate annealing. By reducing the film thickness and increasing the annealing temperature and Co concentration, larger grain size and higher coercivity can be obtained near the percolation threshold.
