Raman spectra of Rb2ZnC14 for several temperatures from 18 K to 340 K are compared with those of K2SeO4. results support a model proposed previously1 for the origin of the anomalous internal mode spectra in K2SeO4. Previous work on the uniaxial stress dependence of the peak frequency of the amplitude mode below the incommensurate transition temperature (~130 K) is analyzed using a sixth degree Landau free energy expansion. The results show little deviation from previous conclusions based on mean-field analysis.
