Abstract

An enzyme reactor for production of L-3,4-dihydroxy phenylalanine (L-DOPA), an antiparkinsonian agent is constructed by using Fuller's earth adsorbed tyrosinase engulfed in dialysis sac. This permits easy retrieval of the adsorbed enzyme from reaction mixture for processing of fresh batch, thereby preventing the phenomenon of product inhibition to some extent. In this modified batch reactor, 123 mg L-DOPA/L/h is produced.
