Study on the effect of ethanol on physiological levels of choline in an isolated perfused liver system

Abstract

This study has demonstrated that the isolated perfused liver continually takes up choline from the perfusate even at the physiological level of plasma choline and that circulating ethanol did not alter this rate of choline uptake. This work indicates that the liver may not autoregulate levels of plasma choline in the organism.
