note = "Funding Information: Funding specifically related to surgical education is not readily available. There is, however, a number of potential funding mechanisms. Through the ASE, a foundation grant is available through the Center for Excellence in Surgery Education Research and Training (CESERT). These grants are available for up to $50,000 and should address the ASEs and CESERTs primary areas of interest that currently include: Innovations in teaching in a changing education environment (top priority); performance evaluation and assessment; undergraduate, graduate and faculty development; and curriculum and educational administration management. The NIH, although it has no dedicated education funding mechanisms, does have an R-25 grant available through the National Cancer Institute for cancer education and career development. Finally, there are a number of private foundations, such as the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Kellogg Foundation, which may fund grants related to education. ",
