Abstract
Use and assessment of workbooks in teaching engineering courses was discussed. Two trial workbook projects, introduction to chemical engineering thermodynamics and chemical engineering simulations, were used to assess the match between students' learning style and instructor's teaching styles. It was found that most of the students who took courses in thermodynamics and simulation have found workbooks beneficial in undergraduate engineering teaching. It was suggested that workbooks integrated with group work and BLACKBOARD may help to reduce the mismatches in teaching and learning styles and can increase interactions between students and faculty.
