Abstract

Background: DNA polymerase α-primase synthesizes chimeric RNA/DNA primers for replicative polymerases. Results: We defined elements that modulate polα and prim activities. Conclusion: The C-terminal domain of the catalytic subunit of polymerase α and the B-subunit regulate the priming of DNA replication. Significance: We provide new information on the regulation of RNA/DNA synthesizing complex that is indispensable for replication in eukaryotes.
