Abstract
Describes the attempts of the FSLN to alleviate rural poverty in Nicaragua in the face of counter-revolution, the historically poor structure of the rural economy and the need to generate foreign exchange. Presents results of a survey into rural labour force structure and available rural employment in 1982, using a random sample of 503 households in four communities. Lists types of employment available and links age, sex and educational attainment to employment success or failure. -A.Gerry (CDS)
