Abstract
The authors have studied a group of patients with marked thrombocytopenia who were treated with porcine packing and whose epistaxis quickly subsided. In vitro studies of blood coagulation confirmed that porcine tissue appears to accelerate coagulation and to act as a platelet substitute.
